UNIVERSAL ADJUSTERS-APPRAISERS CO., INC.

 

UAACI was organized by the late Mr. Santiago I. Macaraeg, who had over forty years of experience in the adjusting field handling all lines. Our Articles of Incorporation and By-Laws was approved by the Securities and Exchange Commission on January 31, 1994. We are a member of the Association of Philippine Adjustment Companies (APAC), and we are licensed by the Insurance Commission of the Philippines.

 

UAACI has grown to a total workforce of sixty-one persons across six offices in key locations within the Philippines. We handle all lines of adjustment, property appraisal, marine superintendence, and cargo survey.

ARNEL CIPRIANO B. CHAVEZ – President and CEO

Arnel has been in the employ of adjustment and marine survey companies for over 40 years. He was a cargo surveyor from 1974 to 1982, and then as an accounting clerk for a year. After that, he transferred to the Fire Division where he worked for nine years as a fire adjuster and crime loss adjuster. Later still, he worked for a different company as a Manager in the Crime Loss Adjustment Section as well as an adjuster for Fire, Personal Accident, and Marine.
His educational preparation includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce as well as accounting courses from Letran College. In April 2016, Arnel was awarded a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) degree.

Arnel is a two-time governor of the Association of Philippine Adjustment Companies and a three-term President of the Philippine Institute of Loss Adjusters.

JOHN MacPHERSON – Executive Vice President and Chief Technical Adviser

John worked as a technical consultant for Universal prior to joining us last year. He has over 20 years of experience as an engineer and executive in high tech industries. He has extensive experience in Quality Control, Statistical Design of Experiments, ISO-9000 certification, and outsourced manufacturing management in partnership with companies within the Pacific Rim.
A graduate of San Jose State University in California, USA, John holds sixteen US patents related to semiconductor processing, IC packaging, and metrology and has authored several papers and lectured on diverse subjects related to semiconductor manufacturing and quality control.

CATHERINE F. ANDRES – Senior Vice President and COO, Corporate Secretary / Treasurer

Cathy has been in the industry of insurance adjustment for more than 30 years. She completed her Bachelors of Science in Commerce, Major in Accounting in Adamson University and became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in 1989. Cathy holds two Masters degrees: she is a Master of Public Administration and a Master of Business Administration (MBA).
Cathy attends regular seminars on taxation and human relations practices and law to keep the company abreast of the latest rulings and practices on those subject matters. She is a Bicolana, married with two children.

RICO L. CALICDAN – Vice President, Fire & Engineering Division

Rico is a licensed Civil Engineer with more than 20 years of experience as a Fire Adjuster across several adjustment companies, including a stint as a Cebu Branch Manager for 4 years. He was a cargo surveyor and fire adjuster for 10 years with a multinational adjustment company. He joined Universal in January of 2000 as a Senior Adjuster in our Fire and Engineering Services Division and has handled numerous Engineering claims, particularly Construction All Risk (CAR) policies.
Rico is an Associate of the Philippine Institute of Loss Adjusters. A Pangasinense, he is married with two children.

EUSTAQUIO M. TORINO – Senior Manager in the Casualty and Marine Division

He obtained a degree in Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Far Eastern University in 1975. He has been in the insurance industry for 43 years handling motor car, personal accident and miscellaneous casualty claims. He also handles Special Risk policy claims. He gained his experience with a multinational adjustment company.

WILFREDO M. SOLICITO – Senior Manager in the Casualty and Marine Division

He previously worked with three (3) adjustment companies, and also joined a well known insurance broker. He pursued the vocation of an adjuster and became a member of the Universal Adjusters-Appraisers Co. Inc. (UAACI) in February 2016.

APOLINARIO L. CALICDAN – Senior Manager in the Property & Casualty Division

Pol, is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). He has extensive training and experience in handling stock loss, general accident and crime loss claims. He also handles Business Interruption and motor car losses. He is an Associate of Phil. Institute of Loss Adjusters.

SENANDO C. SAN PEDRO –MOTORCAR MANAGER / CONSULTANT

He obtained a degree in Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts. He has been in the insurance industry for 43 years handling motor car, personal accident and miscellaneous casualty claims.

EMERSON R. ESPIDOL – Manager in the Property & Casualty Division

Sonny has a degree in Bachelor of Science in Accountancy. He was trained in both Casualty and Property loss adjustment and is now a full-fledged fire adjuster. He also handles Business Interruption loss claims. He has attended various seminars conducted by IIAP, AIC & APAC.

UAACI employees shall, at all times:

  • Observe and conform to the provisions, rules and regulations of the Insurance Code of the Philippines;
